Twiggy's Musical Madness

As many of you are aware, Ive been a UK Hardcore DJ for a couple of years now but recently took it upon myself to learn how to mix Trance with my fiance (Uneek) being my mentor. I couldn’t be doing any of this without your time and patience so thank you xxx. Ive only done 2 live mixes so far but both seemed to go down well and i only had minor issues. Although Im still far from being able to mix Trance at the same standard as I mix hardcore im enjoying the learning process. Ive had a lovely surprise today as one of my very good friends Gerty who attended my first live mix, asked me to mix Trance for her in a cancer event. I was very shocked but also very honoured. Ive agreed to spin for her on the 22ndt June 11am-12pm SLT (7-8pm GMT). Im looking forward to the challenge and it will give me chance to prove to people outside my circle of friends that i am capable of going from UK Hardcore to Trance. For those who read my last post you will be aware i was taking part in an event in secondlife called ROCK THE LOT being held at the steel horse bar. Well im greatly disapointed with the way i was treated. Firstly yesterday i rushed around like a mad woman real life to make sure id sorted my children’s needs before 8pm so i would be on time for my slot. Once i got onto secondlife and went to the club i asked for the stream details, only to be told i needed my own stream. The only stream i have is one my son uses to practice on Krypto and Raz’s land and its only for upto 10 listeners. I feel i should have been informed long before the event that i would need my own stream. Anyway that got sorted. Then once i had got a stream and was ready to spin i was then told they had made a mistake and it wasnt saturday i was spinning but sunday. I was annoyed but figured everyone makes mistakes. I thought that would be the end of the troubles but NOOOOO. I turned upto my set tonight only to have one of the managers in my box constantly asking me to use voice. I explained it was hard to use voice while mixing live because id have to drop my track down low and wouldnt be able to beat count and such, im aware other dj’s do it but im not one of them. I much prefer to have a smooth mix than chat shit to people nd screw me mix up. After i had explaned all this to the manager she then said and i quote ” u really should.. many i know do both,, might take an extra sec but as i told them if u can type u have time to talk….lol..” She also said that if i was a sam dj she would have offered me a job but as i insist on spinning live she wouldnt. Firstly it takes more skill to mix live rather than having a lazy playlist, secondly who said i would want to work there anyway, its a rock club so not really what i look for. Well as you can imagine i was not happy. I felt like somehow i wasnt good enough to be there when infact i was the only VDJ in the lineup all the rest were play list DJ’s. I kept my cool and continued to do what i was there to do only to then be told i wasnt spinning for 2 hours but 1. WHATTTTT i was told id be spinning 12-2pm slt. Waste of my time and energy!!!

All this has made me realise i will NOT be participating in any event unless its for people i actually know. Just goes to show some people cant organise a piss up in a brewery. VERY DISAPOINTED.

Just finished my first set at The Forgotten and would like to say a massive thanks to my host Stagger and my good friends Krypto, Kana, Gloria, Jase and skyee for all being there to show support. I really couldnt do it withut you! xxxx Also a great big thankyou goes out to Robin for asking me if i would like to work at The Forgotten, it was a lot of fun and i look forward to next week 😀

Well what an interesting start to the day ive had. I decided to go head hunting for some new talent around the grid in secondlife and arrived at GOL thinking they would have some pretty decent DJ’s. Just my luck i turn up at the wrong time and my ears got attacked by the WORST Dj i have ever come into contact with. His name being SoloStah Arabello. Yes ive decided to name and shame this guy just as i would praise other DJ’s by naming them if i was impressed. Im not the best DJ out there myself and dont claim to be but OMFG he cant do a clean mix to save his life. He was attempting to mix 4 or 5 tracks at once and my ears just couldnt take it. He also ended most his tracks by making them>>> (only way i can describe it>>>) getting a track stuck….very abusing to the ears and not a pleasent experience. To top all that i wasnt very impressed to witness him scratching his balls whist on ustream not very professional.

So yes i have managed to find the worst DJ in secondlife, if anyone knows of anyone else they think could be worse let me know, id love to go and listen to compare!

Since purchasing a new laptop i have had to transfer all my tracks onto it from the old one. That was the easy part but now i have to reorganise them all. This is a big task as i have a few thousand to sift through, although i guess its a good opportunity to chuck out a few of the mix’s i never really liked 🙂 I need to get all this done before the end of this week so that i can then concentrate on prepairing the two sets for the Teknival. The Teknival will be starting on the 24th of June and running straight through till the 27th of June, a long weekend of nothing but wicked tunes. I will be doing my first set on the 24th at 4-6pm slt. This is the one im looking forward to most because it falls on a friday and fridays are known for some major crazy ass fun on SL 😀 My other set is on the 26th again at 4-6pm slt. I will be performing on stages 1 and 2. It should be a gd experience although im hoping that with having a new laptop i wont suffer the ammount of lag that i have in the past. From now up until the date of my first performance i will be taking every opportunity to practice because since having to have a break from mixing ive become a little rusty. Im sure with a lot of time and patience i will be back on form and ready to get the crowd stomping (heres hoping).
